FINANCIAL RESOURCES CHECKLIST FOR YOUR DIVORCE

Inventory and keep copies of documentation regarding each of the following items wherever applicable and wherever possible. Provide the information and documentation to your attorney as soon as practicable.

Basic Information

__Names and Social Security numbers of you, your spouse, and your children

__Places of employment, with addresses, phone numbers, titles, and formal descriptions obtained concerning salary, pension plans, profit-sharing plans, Keogh plans, and other details

__Life insurance of both you and your spouse and, where applicable, the children

__Health insurance cards

Separate Property in Your Separate Names

__Real estate (marital home, income, business or investment property, etc.)

__Stocks, bonds, and other securities

__Bank and/or credit union checking and savings accounts

__Debts, liens, and mortgages against any assets

Joint Property

__Real estate (marital home, income, business or investment property, etc.)

__Stocks, bonds, and other securities

__Bank and/or credit union checking and savings accounts

__Debts, liens, and mortgages against any assets

Evidence of Income and Debt

__Details of jointly owned family businesses, other owners, financial statements, loan applications, and income tax returns

__Bank and credit union statements

__Addresses of brokerage houses, insurance companies, credit card issuers, etc.

__Income tax returns (at least the past five years)

__Vehicle registrations

__Inventory of household furniture, furnishings, and appliances

__Inventory of contents in safe-deposit boxes

__Patents, royalties, and copyrights

__Inventory of collections, artwork, and antiques

__Proceeds received or contingent from legal cases, such as personal injury or worker’s compensation

__Unusual monies, such as lottery winnings

__Trust funds, gifts, annuities, inheritances, and estate planning documents, such as trusts, wills, and powers of attorney

__Line item credit card statements

__Professional degrees and career assets, such as licenses, benefit packages, stock options, deferred compensation, vacation, sick leave, bonuses, etc.
